Coming off the Stitches high

If Stitches isn't the greatest test of knitting spending willpower, I don't know what is. What a fun weekend. I met up with the girls on Saturday for lunch, which, apparently, was supposed to be a potluck. Shi and I didn't get that memo. We spent a lot of time at Habu where we all got something unusual, I think. Here is mine:

2 Skeins of A-62 1/10 Paper Moire and two skeins of A-172 1/14 Spiral Slub. No, I don't know what to do with them but they're fun to look at. Here are my other extravagances...

The big photo is Socks That Rock lightweight in Bleck, Freckles, and Rare Gems. The Bleck is for socks for me (I know, I hate knitting socks), Freckles is to make a newborn sweater for Crystal, who is having a baby in August, and Rare Gems just looks cool.

Top right is a sweater's worth of Brooks Farm Yarn Acero and one skein of their "limited edition" silk slub. I can't believe how great their prices are. The middle photo is one skein of Handmaiden Camelspin. We are attending multiple weddings this summer, which means having to purchase multiple gifts. Now, since we didn't ask for gifts, none of our friends had to buy us one. So, should we really have to buy all them gifts? Just a thought...a much tamer thought than where I could take this with diamonds.

ANYWAY, I want to use the Camelspin for the Montego Bay Scarf to wear to one of the weddings. Finally, two more skeins of Socks That Rock. 24Karat in Medium weight and Cockcrow (what the hell is a cockcrow?) in lightweight. I love them all.

While chatting with the ladies of Blue Moon, I found out that they only sell their yarn at one store in California - Purlesence Yarns in Sunnyvale...who knew it was a hop skip and a jump away?

On Sunday, Hillary and I took a class about the seven things that can make or break a sweater. Did you know that seaming is way easier if you work your decreases or increases in from the edge? That alone should change my life :)

Weird, that store in Sunnyvale is no big deal-- how come THEY get to be the Socks the Rock distributors? Maybe the other stores in the Bay Area are too stuffy?

I was wondering the same thing. It's a pretty lame store - at least that's my impression from the time we went there. Maybe they're friends? It might also be a production issue.
